No man can tell whether he is rich or poor by turning to his ledger. It is the heart that makes a man rich. He is rich according to what he is, not according to what he has."

Henry Ward Beecher, 1813-1887
American Pastor

Marisa it is interesting how your quotes connect! After I saw your quote by Vivekananda in the last blog, I was wondering how one would think of 'giving' when those who 'can give' would be counting their losses in the share market!
Let us hope that the 19th century American Pastor can still influence the 21st century potential giver.

Very interesting comment Nidhi. "Giving" doesn't necessarily mean giving materially. But when you have lost a lot in life; it MAY (just may) help you be more compassionate towards others; and you can give in other ways; "kindness", a "helping hand" a "shoulder to cry on" - giving comes in many forms. And I believe when you give in such ways it comes back to you ten fold......because such giving USUALLY comes from the heart.
